DescriptionThe Foundation promotes social justice and human rights through its five program areas: Jewish life, strengthening Israeli democracy, health and mental health, educational opportunity, and human rights. Support is provided to organizations in the United States and abroad; however the Jewish life one is the most general. The objective of the Jewish life program is to keep Judaism meaningful, compelling, and responsible to contemporary concerns. The Foundation seeks to engage the Jewish community is social justice efforts; further progressive and inclusive approaches to Judaism; and promote positive relations between Jews and members of other ethnic groups. Funding is provided primarily in the United States to programs that are national in scope. Grants for the health and mental health and the educational opportunity programs are made only in the Baltimore region. Human rights grants are made nationwide. Strengthening Israeli democracy grants are made to organizations in Israel. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
