Caplan Foundation For Early Childhood

Category

: Children, Youth & Families

Description

The Foundation, created by the founders of Creative Playthings, one of the most important manufacturers and suppliers of early childhood educational toys and equipment, is an incubator of promising research and development projects that appear likely to improve the welfare of young children from infancy through 7 years in the United States. The Foundation defines “welfare” to include physical and mental health, safety, nutrition, education, play, familiar support, acculturation, societal integration, and childcare. The Foundation’s grantmaking supports funding for research and development projects that may ultimately enhance the development, health, safety, education, or quality of life of children. Grants are provided in the following areas: early childhood welfare, early childhood education and play, and parenting education. The Foundation employs a two-step grant application process that includes the submission of both a letter of inquiry and full proposals. Applicants may submit a letter of inquiry on the Web site where additional information can be found.
