Description

The Foundation’s Alice Buffett Outstanding Teacher Awards honor the vital role that teachers play in society. Named for Buffett’s great aunt who taught home economics to students at Omaha Central High School and Benson High School, the Awards recognize up to 15 public school teachers in Omaha, Neb., who have instilled in their students the desire to learn and achieve; understand the individual needs of students and encourage their talents; and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of their individual subject matter; and possess the ability to hare it effectively with students. In addition to a $10,000 award, winners also receive a medallion and $500 in McDonald’s gift cards. Eligible applicants are pre-K through grade teachers in the Omaha Public Schools who have a minimum of two years of teaching experience.
