Description

The Foundation is a family foundation that funds start-up organizations and new projects of established organizations in music, education, and community organizing. The Foundation aims to support the development of emerging democratic movements and communities working on issues of local democracy, justice, and sustainable energy in the rebuilding of the U.S. and global economies. It currently focuses on ground-level community organizing at the intersection of utilities and energy infrastructure, housing and community resources, and racial justice. The Foundation is committed to helping new organizations get their start. It recognizes that starting up is a process that takes more than a year, and it has expanded its grantmaking to multi-year support in limited cases. The Foundation makes grants nationwide and in Israel/Palestine, providing limited support to projects in Israel that involve Palestinian communities. Additional information including online application instructions can be found on the Web site.
