Strong Foundation For Environmental Values

Category

: Regional

Description

The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on initiatives that instill an ecological ethic in individuals and communities, and that also encourage grassroots environmental action. The Foundation will award one-year grants of up to $5,000 in support of environmental projects in California, specifically Northern California, the Central Valley, and the Sierra Nevada (including the entire California-Oregon Klamath River watershed and the watersheds that arise in the Sierras and terminate in Nevada’s terminal lakes). The Foundation defines Northern California as extending from the Oregon border in the north down to and ending at the San Luis Obispo, Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino county lines in the south. The Foundation emphasizes grants for environmental and conservation efforts, eco-spirituality, grassroots action, environmental education, capacity building, citizen participation, collaborative efforts, innovative programs, land acquisition, planning, and training. Climate change programs at the community level are also eligible for consideration. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
