Description

The Foundation was created by the developer of the Family Dollar Stores. Its mission is to improve the human condition by creating permanent, measurable, and life-changing impact through the Carolinas. Grants are awarded in the following areas: health care, education, Jewish values, and human services. Health care grants support quality health care, improve access to health care, and invest in impactful research and treatment. Education grants seek to strengthen birth-12th grade public education and provide postsecondary scholarship access for disadvantaged and motivated individuals. Grants in the Jewish values area help build Jewish identity and strengthen Jewish communities. Human services grants help motivated individuals and families attain self-sufficiency by addressing personal crisis, affordable housing, and sustainable income. The Foundation’s primary geographic focus is Charlotte, North Carolina and the surrounding region. The Foundation board will also consider requests from North Carolina-based organizations during certain times of the year, which are listed, along with additional information on the Web site.
