DescriptionThe Society is seeking nominations for its 2018Eugene S. Pulliam First Amendment Award. The annual award, named for the late publisher of The Indianapolis Star and The Indianapolis News, honors an individual, group of individuals, or organization that has fought to protect and preserve one or more of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. Nominations are open to any person, persons, or organizations in the U.S. or its territories. Nominees do not have to journalists. The Society encourages recognition of those outside the journalism profession for the First Amendment efforts and initiatives, including, but not limited to, public officials, members of the legal profession, scholars, educators, librarians, students, and ordinary citizens. Work must have been completed within the current calendar year. Nominations may be made by anyone, inside or outside of the journalism profession. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
